EVEN THERE.

“If I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.”
— Psalm 139:9–10

Even there.

Maybe you know exactly where there is.

Maybe it was a night you don't like remembering.

A season when you felt completely alone.
A prayer that seemed to go unanswered.
A loss.
A mistake.
A waiting room.
A drive home you barely remember.
A moment when everything felt like too much.

Or maybe there hasn't happened yet.

Psalm 139 asks a question that most of us will ask in one form or another:

Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence?

And the answer is—

nowhere.

There is no place so dark, so distant, so painful, or so far from the life you thought you would be living that the presence of God cannot meet you there.

Even There was created to leave room for your own story.

We don't know why the person in this photograph is sitting alone in a car on a rainy night. We don't know where they've been, what they're carrying, what happened before this moment, or what will happen when they finally drive away.

That's intentional.

Because maybe you know what this photograph means.

Maybe your there looked nothing like this.

But the promise is the same.

God does not promise that we will never find ourselves in places we desperately wish we weren't.

He promises that there is nowhere we can go where He is not already present.

And sometimes we only recognize that when we look back.

Even there, Your hand will guide me.
Even there, Your right hand will hold me fast.
