JESUS WEPT.

“Jesus wept.”
— John 11:35

Two words.

And maybe some of the most comforting words in Scripture.

Jesus knew what He was about to do.

He knew Lazarus would walk out of that tomb. He knew death was not going to have the final word.

And still—

Jesus wept.

He stood beside people He loved, saw their grief, and entered into it with them.

He did not rush past their sorrow simply because He knew resurrection was coming.

He wept.

Jesus Wept was created for the parts of our stories where there isn't something beautiful to say yet.

Maybe you know what happened in this room.

Maybe your room looked completely different.

Maybe there was a chair that suddenly belonged to no one. A gathering you never wanted to have. People who came because they didn't know what else to do. A house that eventually became quiet again.

Or maybe your grief has nothing to do with death at all.

This photograph doesn't tell you what was lost.

Scripture doesn't ask us to pretend that what hurts doesn't hurt.

John 11 shows us a Savior who is not uncomfortable with our sorrow. Jesus doesn't stand at a distance from brokenhearted people and tell them to get over it.

He comes near.

And sometimes, before the miracle, before the healing, before anything makes sense—

He weeps with us.

So if this photograph reminds you of a place you wish you'd never been, remember:

Jesus was not absent from your grief.

He was not waiting somewhere on the other side for you to pull yourself together.

Even there, He came close.
Even there, Jesus wept.
